Day 5 of Editing -2 steps forwards, 1 step back

So it’s Friday, Day 5, and I have successfully edited 55 pages of my 230 page novel.

Some of them I’ve edited twice. Some of them three times. Actually, I’ve lost count of how many times I may have edited the first 8 chapters. I’ve come to the decision that no matter how many times I revisit my beginning, I will always find things I want to change, little tweaks here and there, and that if I carry on like this then I’ll never find my way to the end. But at least I’ve made a start. The crippling Sense of Impending Failure I was wrestling with on Monday hasn’t gone, but I’m ignoring it and pushing on regardless.

Just like I’m ignoring all the books that I bought.

Charity shops are brilliant for reference material. I know that there’s an argument for buying from bookshops so the author gets a cut, but I’m helping out a charity. Also, I don’t have a money tree growing in the garden (if one sprouts then I might change my ways). I bought 10 books today and spent £11.00. I do love a bargain!
